These factors combine to create a welcoming and affordable environment for study.
Selecting National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism (NKUHT) and the leisure recreation and management program feels like the perfect fit. NKUHT's reputation for quality education aligns perfectly with my passion for managing leisure activities. The program offers not just theoretical knowledge but also hands-on experience in a field I love. In leisure management, my favorite subject is customer service. It appeals to me because it teaches how to ensure people's happiness and satisfaction during their leisure time. This subject not only enhances my communication skills but also helps me understand the importance of creating positive experiences in leisure settings.
This is not to say that there hasn’t been any challenge. The biggest challenge I faced was understanding lessons in Mandarin as an international student. To overcome this, I started using language-learning apps, seeking extra help from professors, and forming study groups with fellow students. Gradually, my Mandarin improved, making it easier to grasp the lessons.
Life at NKUHT is also more than just studying. My favorite spots on campus are the cozy library and the vibrant student lounge. The library provides a quiet haven for study sessions with a wide range of books available. In contrast, the student lounge offers a lively place to relax, chat with friends, and grab quick snacks. These places help balance work and leisure, making campus life enjoyable.
While in Taiwan, I accomplished the goal of learning basic Mandarin phrases, allowing me to chat easily with locals and feel more connected to the community. Before arriving in Taiwan, my Mandarin skills were limited but have significantly improved since then. Daily interactions and language immersion have boosted my confidence and overall proficiency. Living in Taiwan has provided a practical and enriching learning experience, contributing to considerable improvement in my Mandarin skills.
I also attended a festival, which was an unforgettable experience with its vibrant colors, music, and happy atmosphere. Participating in traditional activities and trying tasty street food made it a special memory of my time in Taiwan.
What I love most about studying and living in Taiwan is the safety and convenience. The country's excellent transportation system makes exploration easy, while the friendly and welcoming people add to the overall positive experience. Besides studying, I enjoy exploring Taiwan's beauty with friends and practicing yoga for a calming break. These activities make my life more balanced and fulfilling.
For friends and family considering Taiwan, I'd highly recommend experiencing its beauty, from mountains to beaches. The delicious food at night markets, the friendly people, and the fascinating mix of old and new attractions make it an enjoyable destination for everyone.
If given the chance to stay in Taiwan after graduation, I look forward to further exploring the rich culture, trying more traditional food, and seeking job opportunities. Taiwan's friendly environment promises continued new experiences and friendships.
