What I appreciate most about studying and living in Taiwan is how genuinely helpful and respectful the people are.
I study in the International College of Innovation (ICI) at National Chengchi University (NCCU). My decision to study in Taiwan was influenced by my cousin, who told me about the high-quality education offered here. The program at NCCU aligns well with my future career goals. Additionally, ICI provides an excellent opportunity for international students who prefer studying in English to experience Taiwan's higher education system.
I chose this program because it offers both academic and athletic support. The teachers are incredibly helpful in both areas, allowing me to excel in sports while pursuing my studies. At ICI, I have the chance to interact with peers from around the world, which broadens my perspective and allows me to learn about different cultures.
Although I haven’t participated in any projects with other students, I’ve accomplished a lot by ensuring I complete all my homework and quizzes. My favorite place on campus is the economics classroom. I like this spot because it’s a great place to focus and study. The professors at ICI are always willing to listen and help solve my problems. My biggest accomplishment this year was winning another championship with my basketball team. Next year, I hope to achieve even more by excelling in both academics and athletics.
The greatest challenge for me is adapting to the culture. I think this would be a challenge no matter where I go. Also, before arriving in Taiwan, I had never spoken Mandarin. However, I’m starting to figure it out bit by bit.
Outside of studying, I enjoy playing basketball the most. While I sometimes hang out with friends, my true passion lies in traveling abroad to compete with basketball players from various countries. This summer, our team traveled to Japan and participated in matches against teams from the Philippines and Japan. It was one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had so far.
I had an amazing time experiencing the New Year celebrations in Taipei. I received red envelopes and gifts from people, which made the experience even more special.
What I love most about studying and living in Taiwan is how helpful and respectful the people are. Even though I’m a basketball player, they still support me in all aspects of life. The teachers are also very supportive and always willing to help.
Taiwan means a lot to me because the people here are very respectful and treat you well. If I were to recommend someone to join NCCU, I would highlight the excellent program that helps you earn a good degree. It’s not just about sports, which will eventually come to an end, but the degree will provide lasting benefits for your future.
After graduation, I plan to focus on my career and see how basketball develops. Once that is settled, I’ll shift my attention to my technology career because I’m passionate about it. I love working with computers and hope to pursue a career in this field.
