The opportunity to study international business in Taiwan has provided me with a unique and valuable perspective on global commerce, and the chance to learn Mandarin has been a rewarding challenge that will serve me well in my future career.

Taiwan: the Epicenter of Global Business

Firstly, Taiwan's location at the heart of Asia offers an unparalleled opportunity to learn about global business practices in one of the world's most dynamic regions. Secondly, Taiwan's reputation as a hub of innovation and entrepreneurship aligns well with my professional goals. Thirdly, Taiwan's higher education system is widely recognized for its academic rigor and quality of instruction. Additionally, given that Mandarin Chinese is a critical language in the global business world, studying in Taiwan presents a unique opportunity to acquire proficiency in the language and gain a deep appreciation for the local culture. Lastly, the scholarship I received from Taiwan's government has enabled me to focus on my academic pursuits without the burden of financial stress. Overall, Taiwan's combination of excellent academic programs, innovation-driven business culture, strategic location, and Mandarin-speaking environment made it the ideal choice for my undergraduate education in international business.

A Quality Program at A Reputable Institution

I chose to study international business at National Sun Yat-sen University because of its excellent reputation in the field, the comprehensive curriculum that aligns with my interests and career aspirations, the highly qualified faculty members, numerous opportunities for internships and study abroad.

An essential aspect to consider is that my class is the first cohort of the IBBA program. The university has developed a program modeled after the IBMBA but with additional components and a longer duration of four years. This aspect is particularly appealing to me as we benefit from being taught by the same professors who instruct at the master's level. Additionally, we have the privilege of accessing our professors' work and research, which enhances the overall quality of the IBBA degree. As a proud member of the inaugural IBBA class, I wholeheartedly recommend this program to all students aspiring to enhance themselves and acquire a top-notch education in the field of international business.

For those considering applying, it's beneficial to set aside some time to think about and discern unique and innovative traits or abilities that will enable them to make a distinct contribution to the university or program they're eyeing. Take NSYSU's esteemed reputation in business, for instance: it's crucial for applicants to have distinguishing qualities that can foster a diverse and dynamic academic environment. By emphasizing these traits in their application, I believe a student can indeed add value to it. It's a strategy I'd strongly advise when applying to any university or program to pique their interest.

Overcoming Challenges Through Active Participation

What I love the most about my study and life in Taiwan is the opportunity to immerse myself in a rich and dynamic culture, while also receiving a high-quality education. Taiwan is an incredibly welcoming and hospitable place, and I have been fortunate to meet many wonderful people during my time here. The food, festivals, and natural beauty of Taiwan are also highlights that I particularly enjoy.

However, living in a foreign country can also present significant challenges, particularly with regards to language and culture. Learning Mandarin has been a challenge but rewarding experience, and I am constantly striving to improve my language skills. Adjusting to the cultural differences, such as social norms and customs, has also required patience and open-mindedness. I have found that the best way to overcome these challenges is through immersion and active participation in local events and activities. Additionally, building a supportive network of friends and mentors has been invaluable in helping me navigate the complexities of living and studying abroad.

When I was in Mexico, I had the opportunity to study a little bit of Mandarin Chinese (simplified), acquiring knowledge of only basic words and phrases. However, since arriving in Taiwan, my language skills have improved significantly. This development can be attributed not only to the classes I took, but also to the fact that most of my classmates are Taiwanese and they generously assist me in language acquisition and offer consistent guidance. In return, I provide Spanish language lessons as well to interested classmates and facilitating an exchange of linguistic knowledge.

Exploring Taiwan & Social Life

Outside of my studies, I enjoy spending time with friends, exploring new places, and engaging in outdoor activities. Taiwan is such a beautiful and diverse country, and I love taking advantage of the opportunities it offers to hike, cycle, and explore its many scenic attractions. I also enjoy exploring the local culture and traditions of Taiwan through activities such as visiting night markets, attending festivals, and trying new foods. Being immersed in such a vibrant and dynamic environment has given me a deeper appreciation for the country and its people.

In addition, I enjoy participating in various social and cultural events on campus, such as attending lectures and workshops, joining clubs and organizations, and volunteering for community service. These activities provide me with opportunities to connect with people from different backgrounds and interests, and to develop new skills and interests. My favorite spot on campus is the area between the library and administration building. It has a really nice vibe with lots of chairs and tables to chill, do homework, chat with friends or play board games. Plus, the weather is usually amazing!

Additionally, Taiwan's vibrant culture, delicious food, and stunning natural scenery have made my time here unforgettable.

I would recommend Taiwan to my friends and family because it offers a truly unique and enriching experience. The people here are friendly and hospitable, and the country is a perfect blend of modernity and tradition. Bridging Cultures: Post-graduation Aspirations

If I have the opportunity to stay in Taiwan after graduation, I would love to continue immersing myself in the culture and further exploring the connections between Taiwan and Mexico. Despite being located on opposite sides of the world, I have been surprised to find many similarities between the two countries, such as the importance of family, the kindness of the people, and some celebrations. By staying in Taiwan, I hope to continue building bridges between our two cultures and promoting greater understanding and collaboration.
