Introduction to Taiwan: Discovering a New World
I was introduced to the idea of studying in Taiwan during my college years. My country’s diplomatic ties with Taiwan and a previous visit, where I experienced the friendliness and openness of the people, inspired me to learn more about this fascinating country.
Academic Journey: From Language to Artificial Intelligence
Initially, I came to Taiwan to study Mandarin. Learning Mandarin was my greatest challenge here. I addressed this by focusing on using the language practically in everyday situations. Upon completing the basic Mandarin courses, my academic path evolved, leading me to pursue the international program on artificial intelligence at I-Shou University. This program aligns perfectly with my career aspirations and my desire to contribute to national development.
A Diverse Life Beyond Academics
Outside the classroom, I lead an active life, engaging in activities like yoga, teaching English, watching films, dining out, practicing martial arts, hiking, and working on various projects. Also, my favorite place in Taiwan is the Fo Guang Shan temple in Kaohsiung.
The Benefits of Studying in Taiwan
I have learned to proactively engage in new activities during my study in Taiwan. I have also learned much about the Taiwanese culture and Mandarin, both of which I believe are beneficial to my future prospects. I’ve also gained a global perspective and an extensive network that will aid me in my future endeavors. Not to mention the significant amount of great schools that I can choose from to further my education.
Who Benefits from Studying in Taiwan
When I share my experiences with my family and friends back home, I emphasize the stark differences between Western and Eastern cultures that Taiwan embodies. My journey here has been eye-opening, revealing a world vastly different from what I knew.
Taiwan to me is a country that epitomizes convenience, development, and safety. It is an ideal destination for ambitious individuals who are eager to explore, adapt, and embrace challenges. It’s a place for those who wish to grow and learn in a dynamic environment.
While I plan to return to Taiwan for further education, I’m still contemplating my long-term stay. The skills and knowledge I’ve acquired here have wide applications, and I’m excited to see where they take me.
Comparing Educational Systems: Taiwan and Home
Comparing the educational environments in Taiwan and my home country, I find that the experiences vary significantly, especially since I’ve expanded my academic scope from visual arts to engineering. The training in Taiwan has complemented and expanded upon my previous education.
