Motivation for Studying Abroad

I always believed that studying abroad would provide unique experiences and foster independence. Learning from people of different cultures, who have their own perspectives on the world, seemed invaluable to me. My initial journey to Taiwan as an exchange student was influenced by its convenient location in Asia and the cost of living comparable to the Czech Republic. The enjoyable experience led me to return and pursue an MBA.

My initial impression of Taiwan was overwhelmingly positive, thanks to the friendliness of the Taiwanese people. The country’s unique blend of developed convenience and exotic charm made it an ideal place for both living and traveling.

I selected National Sun Yat-sen University’s management program for its excellent reputation in Taiwan and worldwide, and its international accreditation. The stories from friends and a recruitment event introduced me to the Global Human Resource Management English MBA program. The program and available scholarship seemed like the perfect opportunity to return to Taiwan.

I find the practical approach to learning at NSYSU refreshing, especially compared to my studies in the Czech Republic. The friendly academic environment and the professors’ willingness to help and discuss issues have been very satisfying.

The student association at NSYSU Management organizes various events, usually twice a month. These events range from academic-focused sessions aimed at improving resumes and sharing career experiences to social networking opportunities. They allow us to reconnect with classmates and enhance our overall experience.

Academic and Living Experience in Taiwan

Living in Taiwan has been delightful, especially appreciating the weather and the exotic island-like environment of our campus. The program’s diverse faculty, including professors from different countries, has enriched my educational experience. It has provided me with insights into Taiwanese perspectives and those of other nationalities.

Among the places I’ve traveled to in Taiwan, Kenting stands out with its beautiful sandy beaches and fascinating natural environment. Kenting National Park is particularly noteworthy. I also plan to visit Taroko, Alishan, and Hualien soon.

Overcoming Challenges in Taiwan

The initial uncertainty upon arrival due to COVID-19 was a challenge. However, the support from my university and the welcoming nature of Taiwan made adapting to the new environment and culture relatively easy.

Outcomes and Benefits of Studying in Taiwan

Studying abroad is highly valued by employers, making it a significant advantage in the job market. Additionally, NSYSU offers free Mandarin classes, a substantial benefit considering Mandarin is the most spoken language globally.

Future Plans and Deciding to Stay in Taiwan

I plan to stay in Taiwan after graduation, influenced by the favorable living conditions, excellent health insurance, and the ease of obtaining an APRC for MBA graduates from Taiwanese universities. The environment, people, and overall convenience of life in Taiwan have been major factors in this decision.

Advice for Prospective Students

Taiwanese universities rank among the best in Asia. The unique blend of a friendly, exotic atmosphere, the high quality of education, supportive people, and the convenient, beautiful environment make Taiwan a standout choice. Additionally, its location offers easy and affordable travel opportunities across Asia. I strongly recommend Taiwan for a quality education in a nurturing and exciting environment.
