I was attracted to Taiwan for its advanced education system and technological development. After extensive research, I found Taiwan to be one of the best options globally for my studies. The education system here offers a unique blend of campus courses and paid internships in the related industry, allowing students like me to apply classroom learning in a professional setting.

Academic and Non-Academic Achievements

In Taiwan, I’ve made significant strides both academically and non-academically. Academically, I’ve excelled in courses like statistical data analysis, computer-aided design, and advanced CNC programming, achieving nearly a 4.0 GPA. On the non-academic front, I’ve gained popularity on social media platforms like TikTok and YouTube, sharing my study experiences with over 100,000 online friends. This has opened up opportunities for paid campaigns and partnerships with educational brands in Indonesia.

Overcoming Challenges and Cultural Immersion

The language barrier was a significant challenge as my proficiency was limited to English, and I had no prior knowledge of Mandarin. However, through dedicated efforts like completing a basic Mandarin class, reading Mandarin books, and practicing with friends, I’ve successfully overcome this barrier. Additionally, I spend time exploring Taiwanese food and culture, which has broadened my perspectives and helped me integrate better into the local environment.

Professional Opportunities and Future Plans

The quality of education and technology in Taiwan, particularly in mechanical engineering, is exceptional. The program structure, combining classroom learning with practical experience, has been immensely beneficial. This approach has prepared me for a future career in the industry and strengthened my technical skills, language proficiency, and mental resilience. My plan is to continue living in Taiwan, build my career here, and contribute to strengthening collaboration between Indonesia and Taiwan. The support from my teachers and the opportunity to work part-time in a related company have further cemented my decision to stay in Taiwan.

Comparing my educational experiences, Taiwan stands out for its supportive teachers and practical learning opportunities. The hands-on experience in a company, coupled with learning about technological updates in mechanical engineering, has been invaluable. This practical approach has provided me with relevant experiences crucial for my career as an engineer.
