Studying at NSYSU has been a transformative experience, helping me grow not only as an engineer but also as a person who believes in innovation for a sustainable future.

A World-Class Education by the Sea

When I began exploring universities abroad, I was searching for a place that combined strong academic quality, research opportunities, and an inspiring learning environment. National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU) immediately stood out for its academic excellence and global reputation in electric power engineering. The program’s focus on renewable energy and advanced power electronics aligned perfectly with my long-term goal of contributing to sustainable energy solutions.

The Taiwan ICDF scholarship was also a decisive factor. Coming from a humble background, this opportunity made it possible for me to study in Taiwan without financial strain. Beyond financial support, it reflected Taiwan’s genuine commitment to international education and global collaboration. Another reason I chose NSYSU is its unique location and atmosphere. Situated by the sea in Kaohsiung, the campus offers a peaceful yet stimulating environment that encourages both creativity and focus. From the very first day, I felt welcomed by the professors, staff, and people, all of whom create a supportive academic community.

In short, I chose NSYSU for its world-class education, research strength, and inclusive culture. Today, I feel grateful to be part of an institution that not only advances my technical skills but also nurtures my values of sustainability, teamwork, and innovation.

Focusing on Future Power Systems

My decision to enroll in the master’s program in electric power engineering at NSYSU was driven by my passion for renewable energy and modern power systems. During my undergraduate studies in India, I worked on projects involving multilevel inverters and solar power conversion, which sparked a lasting curiosity about energy efficiency and sustainable technology. NSYSU’s program offered the perfect combination of advanced research facilities, expert faculty, and innovative coursework.

What I appreciate most about this program is its research-oriented approach and freedom to explore emerging topics. My current work focuses on wireless power transfer (WPT) synchronization between transmitters and receivers, an area with promising applications in electric vehicles and underwater systems. The encouragement I receive from my professors to think critically and independently has significantly enhanced my confidence as a researcher.

The Power of Collaboration

Equally valuable is the international learning environment. Collaborating with classmates from different cultural and technical backgrounds has broadened my perspective and strengthened my problem-solving skills. The program emphasizes both theoretical depth and practical understanding, preparing us to meet real-world energy challenges. Studying at NSYSU has been a transformative experience, helping me grow not only as an engineer but also as a person who believes in innovation for a sustainable future.

Encouragement for Prospective Students

To future international students considering Taiwan, I wholeheartedly encourage you to take the step; it will be one of the most enriching experiences of your life. Taiwan offers world-class education, advanced research infrastructure, and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere that makes it easy to adapt and thrive.

My advice is to come with an open mind and a spirit of curiosity. Embrace the new culture, taste the local food, travel around the island, and take time to connect with both local and international friends. The warmth and kindness of Taiwanese people make daily life here smooth and enjoyable.

Academically, Taiwan provides countless opportunities to learn from passionate professors and engage in meaningful research. Don’t hesitate to ask questions, participate in projects, and build networks; these experiences will shape both your academic and personal growth. Language should not be a concern; many programs are offered in English, and you’ll gradually pick up Mandarin through daily interactions. Taiwan is also incredibly safe, clean, and affordable, making it an ideal study destination.

Studying here has taught me the value of balance between work and life, technology and humanity. It’s an experience that goes beyond education—it’s about learning, sharing, and growing in a country that feels like home.
