Kyrgyzstan
The combination of strong academic guidance, diverse course offerings, and opportunities to apply what I learn in real-world settings convinced me that YZU is the ideal place for me to develop my skills and prepare for my future career.
I originally planned to study in Taiwan because I wanted to learn Mandarin and experience a new culture. I chose Yuan Ze University (YZU) specifically for several reasons. First, my sister had studied in Taiwan before, so she understood the environment here. Based on her experience, she recommended this university to me, which made me feel more confident about my choice. Another reason was that many Kyrgyz students were already studying at YZU, which made me feel that I would have a community and feel more at home.
Beyond my personal reasons, Yuan Ze University has many strengths. It has a solid academic reputation, modern facilities, and a friendly, supportive environment for international students through the Global Affairs Office. YZU also offers many English-taught courses, which makes studying easier for international students.
The campus is very diverse, with students from more than 45 different countries, creating an open and multicultural atmosphere. In addition, the university provides many opportunities such as exchange programs and short-term study programs with partner universities around the world. It also offers services and clubs for international students, encourages friendly interaction with local students, provides scholarships, and has a wide range of diverse degree programs. Altogether, these factors made YZU the right choice for my studies.
Like my whole family, I decided to study in this field because I believe the environment and guidance from people around me have a strong influence on personal growth. In high school, I was active and often participated in student leadership and organizational activities, which made my interest grow in learning more about business and management. This experience encouraged me to pursue a program that could strengthen my skills in leadership, organization, and decision-making.
I chose YZU’s EBBA program because it offers many high-quality courses and opportunities for students. My main concentration is management, which aligns with my personal interests and career goals. At the same time, I have the flexibility to take a minor in international finance, allowing me to gain knowledge in another important area of business. I am also excited by the program’s emphasis on practical experience, international perspectives, and exchange opportunities. The combination of strong academic guidance, diverse course offerings, and opportunities to apply what I learn in real-world settings convinced me that YZU is the ideal place for me to develop my skills and prepare for my future career.
My advice for international students who are considering studying in Taiwan is to come with an open mind and a willingness to explore. Taiwan is one of the safest and most welcoming places for foreign students, and the local people are generally kind and patient, especially when they see you trying to learn the language.
One of the most important things I would recommend is to start learning Mandarin as early as possible. Even if you only know basic phrases, it can make your daily life much easier—from ordering food, shopping, and taking transportation to communicating with classmates and teachers. The sooner you work on your Mandarin, the more confident and comfortable you will feel living here.
Another piece of advice is to be active and social. Don’t limit yourself only to classmates from your home country. Try to make both international and local friends, because each group brings different perspectives and experiences. Join student clubs or interest groups, not only to make friends but also to develop hobbies that keep your life balanced. Having something enjoyable outside of academics helps you feel better emotionally and mentally, especially during stressful times.
Finally, take every chance to join events, activities, and cultural experiences offered by your university or local community. These opportunities help you strengthen your communication skills, build confidence, and understand Taiwanese culture more deeply. The more you participate, the richer, more meaningful, and more memorable your study experience in Taiwan will become.
