Taiwan offers a diverse selection of undergraduate and graduate programs taught in English. Its strong academic resources, abundant research opportunities, and advanced facilities make it an exceptional place to pursue higher education.
Education in Taiwan
Taiwan offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs in English. This is particularly true for master’s degree programs, where you can study almost any major in English. At the same time, you have the opportunity to learn Mandarin in an immersive environment. The teaching environment in Taiwan is quite different compared to my home country. The academic resources, research opportunities, and equipment are superior here.
Personal Experience and Achievements
I am currently studying at the Institute of Creative Industries Design (ICID) at National Cheng Kung University, one of Taiwan’s top universities. Our coursework often involves working in groups to complete projects, which has been a great way to think creatively and differently. My greatest learning achievements in Taiwan include improved teamwork and research skills. My Mandarin language proficiency has also improved significantly, which I believe will be beneficial for my career.
Challenges and Adaptation
The greatest challenge I’ve faced in Taiwan is learning Mandarin. I am continuously working on improving my language skills every day, often with the help of my Taiwanese friends.
Social Life and Leisure
I enjoy nature and outdoor activities, often going hiking and cycling around Taiwan. I’m particularly looking forward to climbing Jade Mountain and exploring other hiking trails, which are plentiful here. In Tainan, where I study, the city offers the best food in Taiwan, despite some finding it a boring old city. Additionally, I love Orchid Island (Lanyu), which is remarkably different from the main island and, in my opinion, the most beautiful place I’ve visited in Taiwan.
Perspectives and Recommendations
I often tell my family and friends back home that they must visit Taiwan at least once. The island may be small, but it has everything you need. I believe studying in Taiwan could benefit anyone’s future career, especially since the country is international-friendly. As for my future plans, I am open to job opportunities in Taiwan, though I haven’t made a definitive decision yet.
