I chose to study in Taiwan because of the various scholarships available that support students from undergraduate to doctoral levels. This financial support was a significant factor in my decision.
Academic Choice: National Chung Hsing University
I chose National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) because it is the most prestigious university in Taichung, which is my favorite city in Taiwan. My major is Business Administration, as I aim to conduct deep research in business-related areas and pursue a Ph.D. in management. The aspect I enjoy the most in my studies is participating in class discussions, especially in the doctoral program, which offers a unique and enriching experience.
Learning Achievements and Overcoming Homesickness
My greatest learning achievement in Taiwan has been developing my Mandarin language skills. The biggest challenge I faced was homesickness, which I overcame by choosing the right community to grow and share experiences with. That’s why, besides studying, I spend my time traveling with friends, exploring different parts of Taiwan and its culture.
Sharing Experiences with Family and Friends
When talking to my family and friends back home, I describe Taiwan as a safe and beautiful country. Studying in Taiwan has taught me to be more independent and to find a balance in my life.
Studying in Taiwan has also enabled me to become trilingual, which I believe will significantly benefit my future career. People who are keen on learning about new cultures and languages would particularly benefit from studying in Taiwan.
In the future, I plan to stay in Taiwan and obtain permanent residency. I now consider Taiwan my home, where I feel safe and comfortable.
Educational Comparison with Home Country
Comparing Taiwan’s education system with that of my home country, I find Taiwan’s system more systematic and strict. There are specific requirements that students need to fulfill, and the university provides proper direction and support.
