Choosing Taiwan for Education and Opportunity

My decision to study in Taiwan was driven by its high educational standards, scholarship opportunities for international students, safety, and excellent public transportation system. When talking to my family and friends back home, I emphasize the safety and convenience of living and traveling in Taiwan, which has been a reassuring aspect of my study abroad experience.

Embracing Medical Biotechnology at Taipei Medical University

I chose Taipei Medical University for my major in medical biotechnology, a program deeply involved in biomedical research and biotechnical industry applications. The most enjoyable aspect of my studies has been engaging in seminars, discussing various topics with professors and fellow students. So, I’d describe my greatest learning achievement in Taiwan to be the rigorous training provided by my department, preparing me to be a research expert and develop innovative diagnostic reagents and biotechnological products.

However, the Mandarin language barrier, particularly in navigating housing outside the university dormitory, was a significant challenge. However, with the help of Taiwanese friends, I managed to communicate effectively with landlords.

Enjoying Outdoor Activities with Friends

Outside of academics, I indulge in outdoor activities like hiking, surfing, skateboarding, and cycling, making the most of Taiwan’s diverse landscapes. Additionally, Jiaoxi township in Yilan city is my favorite place in Taiwan, providing a peaceful and scenic escape from academic life.

Enhancing Future Career Prospects

Taiwan is an excellent study destination for all international students seeking a safe and enriching academic experience abroad. I would describe Taiwan as a place that goes beyond expectation, offering much more than one could anticipate.

I believe that graduating from a Taiwanese university, especially given Taiwan’s reputation in my field, will open doors to career opportunities both in Taiwan and internationally. My plan is to work in an international research institute or company in Taiwan for a few years. This experience will serve as a foundation for eventually returning to my home country to start my own business.

Comparing Educational Experiences

Compared to my home country, the teaching quality, engagement of teachers in student progress, diversity of classmates, and up-to-date, high-tech facilities at Taipei Medical University have significantly enhanced my educational experience.
