Vietnam
The diversity of our class, with students from many different countries, enhances our learning experience and reflects the dynamics of a truly global business environment.
I chose Taiwan for its advanced and diverse educational system, which incorporates elements from various global educational systems such as Germany, France, America, and Japan. The Taiwanese government’s supportive policies and scholarships for international students were significant factors in my decision. Besides education, the rich Taiwanese culture and the friendly environment were also appealing, offering a chance to connect with people from different countries.
Academic Program and Experience
In the GMBA program, we focus on theoretical lectures and critical analysis of case studies in multinational and cross-cultural organizations, emphasizing their role in 21st-century management. The program also enhances our communicative competency by offering both Mandarin and English courses. The diversity within our class, with classmates from various countries, enriches our learning experience and mirrors a global business environment.
Educational Comparison: Taiwan vs. Vietnam
Vietnam’s educational system has seen positive changes and government support in recent years. However, due to economic and resource limitations, it lacks the openness and international interaction found in Taiwan. I respect and appreciate the global perspective offered by Taiwanese education and believe that studying abroad can contribute to Vietnam’s educational and economic development.
Challenges and Overcoming Them
The biggest challenge in applying for a Taiwan scholarship was writing a compelling essay and statement of purpose. Though writing was not my strength, I persevered by taking writing classes and seeking professional help. My persistence and hard work paid off with a fully funded scholarship to my preferred university.
Future Plans and Career Aspirations
As I approach the final year of my master’s program, I am researching the rights and obligations of foreigners working in Taiwan. Impressed by the Taiwanese government’s policies for foreign workers, I plan to stay in Taiwan to gain experience and advance in my career. Despite potential challenges, the friendliness of Taiwanese people and the country’s economic progress give me confidence in my future here.
Achievements in Taiwan
Taiwan has provided me with numerous opportunities for personal and professional growth:
In 2017, I participated in an international volunteer activity organized by ASUS Taiwan and my university in the Philippines.
In 2018, I won the third prize for an English presentation at an exhibition design event at National Taichung University of Science and Technology.
In 2019, I secured an internship at TOYO, a Taiwanese manufacturing company. These experiences have made me more mature, responsible, and passionate about my career path.
Advice for Prospective Students
For those considering studying abroad, Taiwan is an excellent choice due to its developed educational system, safety, and friendly environment. Taiwan’s natural beauty, cultural richness, religious diversity, and historical landmarks, like Taipei 101 and various festivals and museums, make it a worthwhile destination for education and exploration.
