Introduction & Decision to Study in Taiwan
As an outgoing person, I’m passionate about traveling, writing journals, and playing the piano. I’ve been involved in various activities at the university, including serving as a master of ceremony, participating in news casting contests, and leading a national scale event. My life’s motivation is to embrace new experiences, explore new places, and make brave decisions.
My journey to Taiwan began with the Taiwan Education Experience Program (TEEP) in 2019, where I studied Mandarin, attended business lectures, and participated in an internship program. This experience, coupled with the helpfulness of the Kinmen citizens, the university’s support for hardworking students, and Taiwan’s conducive environment, convinced me to continue my studies here.
Academic Experience
Currently, I am learning business administration, delving into subjects like organizational behavior, financial management, and marketing. What I love most about studying here is the practical learning approach, including visits to companies and interactions with international speakers. These experiences have broadened my perspective and enhanced my skills.
The teaching quality in Taiwan impresses me, especially the lecturers’ punctuality and interactive teaching methods. The diversity in the classroom, with students from various countries, enriches the learning experience. The student facilities, like comprehensive dormitories, free gyms, and libraries, are commendable.
Challenges and Achievements
Initially, language barriers and information accessibility posed challenges, especially with information online predominantly in Chinese. However, the international office was helpful in providing clarity. I also faced some cultural challenges regarding my veil, but open communication helped in overcoming these issues.
My achievements in Taiwan include winning a singing contest, excelling academically, and being featured in a talk show and newspaper. These experiences have made me realize my untapped potential and the importance of seizing opportunities.
Studying in Taiwan has honed my punctuality, work ethic, and independence. The part-time job opportunities have given me a taste of different work environments, which I believe will be beneficial in my future career.
Future Plans and Taiwan’s Influence
After completing my studies, I plan to work in Taiwan for at least a year to improve my Mandarin language skills and learn more about Taiwan’s advancements, especially in green business and education. Taiwan’s system has instilled in me a curiosity and a desire to learn.
