Taiwan’s reputation for being safe and welcoming, along with the genuine kindness of its people, gave me the confidence to seize this opportunity.

Coming from a hardworking family of six members with my father as a farmer and my mother as a housewife, we face economic challenges. I am a courageous and loving girl, passionate about learning and ingrained with positivity. My hobbies include reading books, gardening, singing, and sports. I am dedicated to my goals and embrace the challenges that come my way.

Initially, I hadn’t considered studying abroad, but the opportunity to experience life in a foreign country changed my mind. Despite our poor economy, I was fortunate to receive a full scholarship to study in Taiwan. The decision was difficult, with my family’s financial concerns and my responsibilities towards my siblings. However, Taiwan’s reputation as a friendly and safe country, along with its kind-hearted people, convinced me to take this opportunity.

Academic Experience

In the English Department, I’ve taken a variety of courses. Public speaking and debate classes are my favorites, as they greatly contribute to my future skills. These courses have taught me confidence, expression, and the importance of conveying my ideas effectively.

Comparing Taiwan’s education with that of my home country, I appreciate the facilities and technological advancements here. Unlike India, where we face challenges like inadequate electricity and water supply, Taiwan offers stable utilities and a conducive learning environment. The peaceful atmosphere here contrasts with the noisy environment back home, making it easier to focus on my studies.

Obtaining my passport and visa was the most challenging part of coming to Taiwan. The process was long and involved traveling to the capital city, undergoing several interviews, and certifying documents. Even the medical certificate process was lengthy, causing a delay in my visa. I joined university two weeks late but overcame these challenges by staying calm and positive.

Future Plans and Aspirations

Studying in Taiwan has made me mentally stronger and more independent. The work experiences I’ve gained here are invaluable. Learning Mandarin, despite its difficulty, is a significant advantage for my career prospects. I believe my degree and experiences from Taiwan will greatly aid in my job search.

After completing my studies, I plan to work in a trading company in Taiwan. I’ve grown to love Taiwan for its kind-hearted people, better economy, controlled pollution, and independent lifestyle. The experiences here have broadened my thoughts and enhanced my skills, making me eager to continue living and learning in Taiwan.

Achievements and Insights

My most important achievements in Taiwan include learning a new language, volunteering, thinking independently, and facing challenges. Participating in volunteering activities like teaching and recycling has contributed to both my social and personal growth. Living among diverse cultures has widened my perspectives. My greatest achievement is learning to navigate daily life challenges independently.

Advice for Future Students

My advice to students considering Taiwan for their studies is to wholeheartedly embrace the opportunity. Taiwan’s beautiful landscape, quality education, safe environment, and delicious food make it an ideal place for study and personal growth. The independence and lifestyle you’ll experience here are truly enriching. I am confident that you will love Taiwan as much as I do.
