Decision to Study in Taiwan

I graduated with a B.Sc. in agriculture from Catholic Ming Yuan College, Philippines. I believe that “a quality education is the key to success,” and I am now studying at Nanhua University to advance my education.

Studying abroad is a privilege, and the opportunity presented by the TEEP scholarship at Nanhua University was a rare chance I couldn’t miss. My decision to study in Taiwan for my master’s degree was driven by the desire to enhance my intellectual abilities and become a better version of myself - hardworking, studious, and independent. Despite financial challenges, I am confident that my education here will significantly contribute to my future success.

Financial constraints were a significant challenge during my application process. With the support of my uncle and my own determination, I overcame these hurdles. Additionally, being away from my family for an extended period was challenging, but my goals and the support of my loved ones kept me motivated.

Academic Program and Experience

I am studying for a master’s degree in green technology for sustainability. This program focuses on creating a sustainable environment without harming living and non-living entities. It blends knowledge from civil engineering, agriculture, forestry, food technology, and electronic engineering. The diverse backgrounds of my classmates from India, Bangladesh, and Cambodia have enriched my learning experience, allowing me to understand different cultures and perspectives.

Taiwan offers a new environment, advanced facilities, and a comfortable study atmosphere, which is quite different from the Philippines. The serene and green campus of Nanhua University provides a peaceful learning environment. I appreciate the high teaching quality and the expertise of the professors here.

My passion and perseverance have been crucial in achieving my goals. Overcoming challenges and staying positive amidst difficulties have been significant accomplishments during my studies in Taiwan. My dedication to my studies and the support I have received here are the cornerstones of my success.

Future Plans Post-Study

A degree from Taiwan provides a competitive edge in the Philippines. The excellent education I am receiving here is a significant step towards securing a better and stable job in the future. The knowledge and experiences gained will be vital in my role as a productive citizen and a catalyst for positive change.

After completing my master’s degree, my aim is to find a job where I can serve farmers and contribute significantly to their lives. I am open to the possibility of teaching at universities. If given the opportunity, I would like to stay in Taiwan due to its favorable environment and welcoming people.

Advice for Prospective Students

For students interested in studying in Taiwan, my advice is to embrace the journey with an open mind and heart. Taiwan offers a welcoming and supportive environment for international students. The experience is not just about academic growth but also about personal development and independence. Choosing Taiwan for your studies is a decision you are unlikely to regret.
