Taiwan is a hub for engineering, particularly in electronics and information technologies, providing excellent career opportunities.

Why Taiwan for Higher Education & Application Process

In 2017, I graduated in Electrical Engineering from the University of Jember. Following my graduation, I interned at the university’s Electrical and Electronic Laboratory, developing a keen interest in control systems. This led me to pursue a master’s degree at the National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT) in Taiwan.

I chose Taiwan for three main reasons. First, Taiwan offers numerous scholarships for international students, one of which I received from NTUT. Secondly, Taiwan is a hub for engineering, particularly in electronics and information technologies, providing excellent career opportunities. Lastly, I admire Taiwan’s strong work ethic, which I believe is crucial for personal and professional growth.

Choosing a university in Taiwan was challenging due to limited reference letters and simultaneous application deadlines. I researched and narrowed down universities offering M.Sc. in electrical engineering in English with scholarship opportunities. After considering various factors and seeking student feedback, I chose NTUT for its potential opportunities.

Specialization and Education Experience at NTUT

My focus at NTUT is electrical engineering, specifically in control systems within the Intelligent Systems Laboratory. What stands out in my education here is the course structure. Unlike traditional lecture-based learning, courses here involve hands-on projects solving real-world problems, which I find more effective and engaging.

The teaching quality at NTUT is distinctively practical and encourages curiosity and independence among students. The competitive atmosphere promotes self-motivation. Additionally, NTUT’s facilities are impressive, with well-equipped laboratories and resources like iPads and licensed software readily available for students.

Career Aspirations Post-Graduation

Studying at NTUT has bolstered my cognitive skills, like technical expertise and problem-solving, and interpersonal skills through lab teamwork and communication. Additionally, NTUT’s diverse student body has enriched my life, teaching me independence, cultural adaptability, and strengthening my work ethic.

Post-graduation, I aim to work in Taiwan’s renowned manufacturing industry to gain international exposure and enhance my career prospects. Simultaneously, I’m preparing to pursue a PhD in Taiwan, hoping to integrate my industrial experience with advanced research to address real-world industrial problems.

Personal Discipline and Networking: Keys to Success

I attribute my achievements to discipline, such as maintaining a regular schedule, and networking. Staying disciplined aligns with the strong work ethic I admire in Taiwan. Building connections has been essential, not only for educational success but also for personal support while being away from home.

Guidance for Future International Students

For prospective students, thorough research and preparation are crucial. Keep updated with the international affairs office for admission and scholarship information. Connecting with the international student community can provide valuable insights and support, from admission tips to social events.
