Teachers in Taiwan genuinely care about their students — they encourage open interaction and are always easy to approach for help or consultation.

I chose to study in Taiwan for several reasons. Firstly, I appreciate the study environment in Taiwan, which is comfortable and familiar, especially since the language barrier is minimal due to the common use of Mandarin in both Taiwan and Malaysia’s overseas Chinese community. Secondly, I’m drawn to the warmth and safety offered by the Taiwanese people. Among the many universities in Taiwan, Ming Chuan University stands out to me. Its excellent education system and the successful career paths of its graduates, especially those from the School of Communication, are particularly impressive. Some alumni have even become prominent figures in Asia, like the well-known singer Mr. Wee Meng Chee (a.k.a Namewee).

The application process was relatively smooth, thanks largely to the helpful staff at the university. The primary challenge was the time-consuming task of translating and verifying documents with the relevant authorities.

Ming Chuan University’s Approach to Advertising and Marketing

The Advertising and Strategic Marketing Program at Ming Chuan University is designed to train professionals in various fields such as public relations, advertising, market research, and marketing planning. The curriculum emphasizes not just theoretical knowledge but also innovative thinking, planning and execution skills, communication etiquette, and practical experience. These are essential to understanding consumer needs. What I find most valuable is the focus on planning and implementation skills. Strong communication abilities are vital, as they ensure that ideas and plans are clearly understood and effectively executed.

The educational approach in Taiwan differs from my home country. Here, there is a greater emphasis on collaborative learning, with students working in groups on projects and assignments. This method enhances knowledge retention and improves communication and cooperation skills. Taiwanese universities are progressive in their educational, learning, and research methodologies, catering to the interests of contemporary students. Additionally, the teachers in Taiwan show a deep concern for their students, encouraging interaction and being readily available for consultation. Taiwan’s convenient transportation system is another advantage, offering easy access to educational facilities.

Future Aspirations and Career Goals

My goal is to quickly understand workplace needs and develop the necessary skills and competencies. The language compatibility in Taiwan is a significant advantage, and I plan to use this opportunity to learn additional languages like Japanese more effectively. During my spare time, I intend to gain practical experience, enhance my communication skills, and network with professionals to prepare for my future career. This is a unique benefit of studying in Taiwan, and I’m committed to leveraging it to secure a promising job here.

My long-term plan includes continuing my education and possibly staying in Taiwan to gain experience in event planning. I’m keen on finding a company that aligns with my interests, where I can expand my network and potentially establish my own business. Alternatively, I dream of working for a luxury brand in New York, organizing high-level fashion shows, an industry I find particularly captivating. If I remain in Taiwan, I aim to join an international event planning company to learn more about organizing large-scale events like concerts.

Cultural and Social Growth: Key Accomplishments

Studying in Taiwan has allowed me to learn about various cultures and forge friendships with people from different countries, enhancing my communication skills and work capabilities. More importantly, this experience has taught me independence and problem-solving skills, moving me away from reliance on family support.

Guidance for Future Students Considering Taiwan

I advise prospective students to talk to people who have studied in Taiwan or to research online about the Taiwanese educational system. Taiwan is an excellent choice, known for its hospitable and helpful people. The pace of life is manageable, allowing for a smooth transition. For food enthusiasts, Taiwan’s night markets are a culinary paradise. It’s crucial for students to focus on their interests and choose courses that truly resonate with them, ensuring their time and resources are well spent.
