Thailand
Taiwan being ranked among the top fifteen countries for living and doing business by Forbes made the decision feel like a no-brainer for me.
Before coming to Taiwan, I worked in Thailand for two years as an IT auditor and business analyst. The desire to enhance my knowledge and skills in management led me to pursue further education abroad. I actively participate in various activities both inside and outside of school, enjoying meeting new people and immersing myself in different activities to explore myself and Taiwanese culture.
Taiwan, ranked in the top fifteen countries for living and doing business by Forbes, was an obvious choice for me despite not knowing anyone here initially. The positive reviews about Taiwan’s safety, cleanliness, and the AACSB accreditation of the business school at National Taipei University were compelling reasons. Moreover, the opportunity to improve my Mandarin language skills was a significant factor in my decision.
The most significant hurdle in applying to study in Taiwan was the visa process. I managed the application on my own, without any agency’s help, relying on research and assistance from the Thai students in Taiwan association group.
GMBA Program Experience
I chose the GMBA program, designed for international students with interests in finance and management, with the aspiration of running my own business someday. The program, conducted entirely in English, offers diverse courses like international business management and finance management. My final semester has been filled with enjoyable moments, learning from classmates from various countries and engaging in fun activities.
Studying in Taiwan is distinctly different from my home country. The medium of communication is exclusively English, and the teaching style here involves more discussion and open expression in classrooms. The modern facilities at NTPU, like the library and study rooms, alongside the supportive Office of International Affairs (OIA), have made my experience abroad smooth and enriching.
Future Plans Post-Graduation
Studying in Taiwan has equipped me with proficiency in a third language, Mandarin, opening up diverse career paths such as tour guiding, translation, sales marketing, and data analysis. The connections made here with local people are invaluable, especially for those aspiring to start a business in Taiwan.
After graduation, I intend to work in a financial company in Taiwan. The environment here, coupled with the opportunities and experiences I’ve gained, makes Taiwan an ideal place for both personal and professional growth. The convenience of transportation and the scenic beauty accessible by cycling are just a few aspects that make living in Taiwan appealing.
Key Achievements and Learnings in Taiwan
Success in studying abroad hinges on language proficiency, especially in English. Active participation in class, self-study, and engagement in school activities are crucial for a holistic learning experience. These activities provide practical learning opportunities and help in building a network of friends and acquaintances.
