A Summer of Growth and Adventure in Taiwan

As an international university student studying in Taiwan, I have discovered that this island offers far more than just academic excellence—it is also a destination filled with unique and unforgettable summer experiences.

My name is Damla Nur Yağı, and I come from Turkey. I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Communication at National Chengchi University. During my time here, especially over the summer, I have found countless ways to enrich both my academic and personal journey.

One of the things I love most about Taiwan is how accessible everything is. With just a short drive from the city, I can find myself wandering through historic traditional streets, exploring vibrant local markets, or visiting breathtaking mountain towns. Taiwan’s natural beauty has given me the chance to experience trekking, hiking, and even camping. Being surrounded by mountains and greenery has allowed me to truly appreciate the balance between city life and nature.

In addition to traveling and exploring, I also participated in a summer internship. Taiwanese companies are globally connected, with markets all over the world, which creates valuable opportunities for international students like me to gain professional experience and develop our careers. This hands-on experience allowed me to apply what I learned in class to real-world situations and better understand international business environments.

Academically, I continued to enhance my learning by studying at Chinese language centers and spending time in Taiwan’s modern libraries. Even during the summer break, I remained motivated to grow, improve my language skills, and deepen my understanding of Taiwanese culture.

Looking back, even my summer vacation in Taiwan has been meaningful and transformative. The experiences I gained—through travel, internships, cultural exploration, and academic growth—have left a lasting impression on me. Studying in Taiwan is not just about earning a degree; it is about embracing new adventures, broadening horizons, and creating memories that will stay with me for a lifetime.
