Malaysia
This educational journey is shaping me into a more confident person, giving me the ability to make thoughtful, well-informed decisions.
Selecting Taiwan for Higher Education: Motivations and Visa Challenges
I opted for Taiwan for my graduate studies due to the relevance of the program to my field of management. Despite having a master’s degree from my home country, NTUT’s program was appealing as it involved thesis writing, a key skill I was eager to develop. The program’s instruction in English, my primary language of education, was another crucial factor.
Taiwan’s advanced economy and international recognition also played a role in my choice. Studying here offered a chance to experience a culture and economy different from my own. Additionally, the opportunity to learn Mandarin, while not my main goal, presented itself as a beneficial skill for my future.
The most significant challenge was obtaining a resident visa. This required various notarized documents and involved meticulous preparation, particularly at the Taiwan representative office in Malaysia. I overcame these challenges by ensuring accuracy in my application and having all necessary documents ready.
Academic Journey at National Taipei University of Technology
My program, the International Master’s in Financial Technology and Innovative Entrepreneur, covers financial technology, big data analytics, and advanced engineering economics, among other courses. The diversity of students, including both full-time and exchange participants, enriches classroom discussions and project collaborations.
The teaching quality in Taiwan is comparable to Malaysia, with both countries being emerging Asian economies. The faculty’s professionalism and the adequacy of university facilities contribute to a seamless learning experience. However, I’ve noticed limited interaction between international and local students outside of academic settings, an area that, if improved, could enhance cultural exchange and understanding.
Future Goals and the Impact of Studying in Taiwan
This educational journey is shaping me into a more confident individual, equipped to make informed decisions. The program aligns with industry needs, preparing me for future career challenges. I’m open to entrepreneurial opportunities in Taiwan, drawn by the country’s high living standards, efficient public services, and safety.
Personal and Academic Achievements
Graduating on time is my primary goal, representing a significant personal and academic achievement. Contributing a meaningful thesis that benefits the academic community and advances national educational goals is also among my aspirations.
Guidance for Prospective Students Considering Taiwan

Embracing Taiwan’s unique culture and approaching your studies with an open mind are crucial to making the most of this opportunity. Taiwan offers a rich cultural and educational experience, but it requires active engagement to fully benefit from what the country has to offer.
