If you’re looking for a place that combines excellent education with warmth and safety, Taiwan is absolutely worth it.
One of the main reasons I chose to study at National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) was its strong academic reputation and research excellence, especially in the field of computer science. Before coming to Taiwan, I had done a lot of research about universities in Asia that offer high-quality education with a supportive learning environment, and NTHU stood out immediately.
I decided to enroll in the computer science program because it offers a perfect balance between theoretical knowledge and practical experience. I’ve always been passionate about technology and problem-solving, and this program gives me the chance to explore both deeply.
I was also impressed by NTHU’s highly qualified professors and their research areas, which align closely with my interests in software development and system design. The hands-on learning approach was another highlight, where students are encouraged to apply what they learn through projects, lab work, and teamwork.
I was also attracted by the scholarship opportunities that made it possible for international students like me to pursue our studies without too much financial burden. Additionally, NTHU’s international learning environment allows me to connect with classmates from different backgrounds and exchange perspectives. This not only improves my communication and collaboration skills but also motivates me to challenge myself further. I truly appreciate how this program helps me grow both academically and personally.
Another big factor was Taiwan’s welcoming culture and safe environment. As someone studying abroad for the first time, I really appreciated how friendly and open the people here are. The combination of world-class education, cultural richness, and quality of life made NTHU and Taiwan the perfect choice for me.
My biggest advice is to embrace the experience with an open heart. Studying in Taiwan is not just about academics — it’s also about learning to live independently, exploring new cultures, and building friendships that can last a lifetime. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone; join student clubs, talk to locals, and try new things.
I also recommend learning a bit of basic Mandarin before coming — it really helps in daily life and makes interactions smoother (plus, locals really appreciate it when you try!). And most importantly, don’t pressure yourself too much. Adjusting to a new environment takes time, and it’s okay to learn at your own pace. Taiwan is a beautiful place filled with kind people, delicious food, and a strong sense of community. If you’re looking for a place that combines excellent education with warmth and safety, Taiwan is absolutely worth it.
