Studying Semiconductors in the Heart of Innovation
I’m an international student from Indonesia studying Semiconductor Devices, Materials, and Hetero-integration at National Taiwan University. I chose Taiwan because of its strong global reputation in technology and innovation, especially in the semiconductor industry. As a world leader in semiconductors, Taiwan offers the ideal environment for me to deepen my knowledge and prepare for a future in this field.
Studying at NTU has been an incredible experience. The academic atmosphere is vibrant and inspiring. With world-class research labs, hands-on courses, and professors who are always open to discussion, I constantly feel encouraged to think critically and explore new ideas. Being consistently ranked among the top universities in the world makes me proud to be part of this community.
Learning Mandarin has been one of my biggest challenges, but also one of the most rewarding parts of living here. Practicing every day in Taiwan makes a huge difference, and local people are very friendly and patient. I’m especially grateful for my NTU buddy, who supports me in learning and using Mandarin around campus. That encouragement has helped me gain confidence in daily life.
Another reason I love studying in Taiwan is the strong connection to industry. There are many opportunities for internships, company collaborations, and even startup projects. In my program, we often connect directly with the semiconductor sector, which gives me valuable insight for planning my career.
Outside of academics, Taiwan has given me unforgettable memories. I enjoy exploring night markets, cultural sites, and traveling with friends from around the world. Experiencing snow for the first time in winter and seeing cherry blossoms bloom in spring were moments I will never forget. Living here allows me to experience all four seasons while discovering Taiwan’s natural beauty and cultural charm.
For me, studying at NTU is more than earning a degree—it’s about growth, exploration, and building my future. If you’re considering studying abroad, Taiwan is truly a place where you can challenge yourself and thrive.
